The Online Community About Exciting New CAD Technologies

Many years ago I tried adopting a 3D mouse (then the space ball). It seemed to have potential but it was difficult to master so I set it aside for about 10 years. A friend showed me what he could do with the newer model and I was impressed. I promptly bought one and can't believe I ever modeled in 3D without it. I spend 75-100 yours a week on CAD so I absolutely must be productive and this thing really helps. Its as if I had been boxing with one hand tied behind my back all these years (but never knew it). Leaves me wondering what I could do if I could also use my feet?

I wish that spaceclaim would support it a bit better though. With their recent addition of a hot key to "set the view center" it is greatly improved but I still lack the control I have experienced using it on other CAD tools.

Anyone else experience this?

I started out with the Space Navigator because it was cheap and I thought it would be easier to drag around with my laptop. With in 2 hours I was hooked but realized I should have bought one with more programmable buttons so I promptly bought the space explorer. I love it. I am purchasing them for my entire staff. I am now thinking about jumping up to the top of the line (more programmable hot keys).

Get one you won't know how you lived without it

I also use one, can't live without it any more. It appears, though, that navigating using the 3Dconnecion space mouses is a bit slow, when we have a large model open, while using Spaceclaim's built-in navigation tools is much faster. It would be good to have faster rotation/pan/zoom with the space mouses, too. Then, I would not have to switch back and forth beween two metods depending on how crowded the model window is at the time.

Hi,Anyone know how to scale the main design window?I design small objects and would like to see them at a 1:1 scale. In other words, if the object is 8mm by 6mm, I would like to see it life-size on the screen. I can do it on a drawing sheet but that…
