The Online Community About Exciting New CAD Technologies

All,
Since SpaceClaim R2 we have had mouse gesture functionality -- and with our upcoming multitouch support in R5, we have expanded that functionality -- so you can have multi-touch and gesture recognition.

For the most part, we used the Firefox paradigm of gestures, and I put the new chart below -- it is in the Help of course, but I wanted to refresh everyone's memory on it. With a mouse, you invoke these gestures with RMB-drag, and the status bar tells you when you have input a successful command. With multi-touch, you put two fingers on the screen, wait a moment, then make the gesture. We put up two circles when the gesture is about to be recognized, so you aren't guessing about whether you have waited long enough.

In any case, there are some new gestures in R5, that I encourage everyone to try out, and give us feedback on them, especially if there is some common action that you wish had a gesture -- so we can think about adding it.

Also, there is a special gesture in R5, a CW or CCW circle, that brings up a radial marking menu, This can also be rocker-clicked with LMB-down-then-RMB-click, or the N key (and on multi-touch monitors, with a one-touch+two-tap action.

Frank,

thank you for posting this. I must admit I did not yet use gestures in SC because I still use another application that supports gestures and they are different. I just get confused. I also get confused with key commands or shortcuts in different applications, but at least the keys don't get lost when they have not been used for a while, which gestures seem to do. That will be a mjor challenge with multi touch, I believe, as gestures solely rely on the memory of the user, while keys can be tried out one by one, when in doubt.

One day when I wake up feeling infallible, I'll print above chart, stick it to my monitor's frame and try them in SC.

Martin

Hi,Anyone know how to scale the main design window?I design small objects and would like to see them at a 1:1 scale. In other words, if the object is 8mm by 6mm, I would like to see it life-size on the screen. I can do it on a drawing sheet but that…
