I to believe in it Christopher, that their should be an option like "Design Table" in CATIA or Configuration settings in SolidWorks, which can export dimensional data to Excel or Notepad, change in the values their should synchronize with 3D model.

Thanks Frank, that did worked well, but don't you think that it is good to introduce fixed & floating components option.

I just wanted attach a video to this post. In the video, initially I have tried moving the piston in a linear motion, but the mechanism didn't worked. Then I rocked the Link where I got satisfactory motion of the links, except that I wanted the Cyli…

Hi Frank, I was just trying out some mechanism, but faced the same issue which was a concern for Assembly design in SpaceClaim. There is no option to define a component as a fixed (non-moving) component, so the parts in the assembly tends to fly aw…

Need a Gallery

After observing the huge response on Sketch-Up website & even 3Dvia, I feel that it is fun modeling on SpaceClaim as well, beyond that, SpaceClaim is a CAD software, anybody can learn fast and start model making in an hour. There are people who want to share their innovative ideas & I feel Spaceclaiming would be the best platform for CAD data sharing.

I feel that SpaceClaim supports 3D PDF output very well, so with the support of SpaceClaim, Novedge & Adobe, this site should have a… Continue

Simulation & Gravity effect

When the topic is Assembly in CAD, I would prefer the software which could gives an opportunity to simulate and check my mechanism.

I am most interested in finding the relative motion of the links, the path of a point on link or the whole link while in motion (swept volume), DOF (Degree Of Freedom), detection of clash between links, beyond that the effect of gravity on the system.

CATIA has an incredible flexibility of delivering results in such cases, various kind of mechanisms could be desig… Continue

Thanks Poorvesh i appreciate your immediate feedback.
we are basically a Automative Plastic product devlopment company.
we are developing instrument clusters, so our major design activities involved in plastic material such like Housing,Top cover,Back Cover,Dials n etc..i.e complete solid modeling work.

I need more details about spaceclaim.which module it have & many more.

Hi poorvesh, No till date i didn't tried spaceclaim.
I want to try it.I have a one dought that which is better for modeling catia or spaceclaim..

Hey Poorvesh, you guessed it right. You really look like CAD fanatic:)
CATIA fan? I will look into topics! Also, I see your scrap in almost every profile, intending your genuine interest in CAD crazy people.

Sorry no, I am not a programmer, just a jockey. I told the input keypad idea to the Spaceclaim guys as an enhancement request. I tried the onscreen keyboard program, but it is not working properly with Spaceclaim. Only seems to input the last integer you click on. I like your phone app idea, I think it would work well for sales guys, as well as facilitate communication with guys doing field work.
I would like to see more videos from you, they have been very helpful.

Poorvesh, thank you for your review, as it directly addressed some of my concerns. I envisioned being able to use it left handed for the model view manipulations, while the right hand is free to move to the next modeling program function. I have in mind an program/enhancement that would deliver a pop-up or onscreen data input keypad. That would then remove the keyboard from my workflow, allowing me to keep my eyes always on screen and hands always on controls. I'm sure that would increase productivity at least in my case, as long as my left hand could learn the Spacenavigator.

Hi Poorvesh, I am curious as to what your opinion is of your new Space Navigator? Kevin appears to like it, and I am interested in getting one. What was the learning curve like for it?

Thanks for your interesting comment! Reviews for Synchronous Technology in both Solid Edge and NX have been overwhelmingly positive. I appreciate that everyone has different opinions. Regards.

Thanks for the vote Poorvesh, I notice you have a Space Navigator yourself. I'll give you fair warning that prolonged exposure to 3D navigation devices will make you the quickest modeller around. I am at the point where I can build alot of models in front of the customers eyes giving them the impression that they are building it themselves. What I don't understand is that there are still relatively few modellers/CAD operators using them.

Thanks for the reply. 1. I have played around a little bit with it. It's a very powerful tool for selecting elements with in solids, but doesn't work at all with components. It would be nice if that selection tool would find attributes of a compone…

Hi Dennis, 1. Did you notice the selection tab under the component tree? You might want to play around with that one and see what it can do for you. 4. You can move any direction you like, but you need to use the move tool. I know Cinema4D as quit…

As a drawing is always referring to a certain component, it will by default include everything within the component. It would be possible, though, to create one more drawing and hide those elements not needed for the purpose. If you go on with your…

Thanks for the reply. 1. This worked. Although I would like to see something similar to Rhino's selection filter. Where you can filter out certain elements before you draw a selection box. For instance if I wanted to just select components it would…

I was thinking of something similar to Microstation's clip volume. Although maybe I am thinking about wrong. If you have a large complex assembly and want to show a detail of how 2 parts fit together without showing all the other parts around it. Ho…

Hmmm... I could not find any anomalities in SC 2010 so far. I think the hierarchy driven alignment preferences have always been ab bit ugly. I'd prefer if the alignment direction would be defined by the sequence of selection. The object selected fir…

In former versions I did not have any problems with it. But with V.2010 it is unpredictable. I agree with you Martin that the anchor constraint wil work but it is extra mouseclicks and I do not believe this is the way it is supposed to be.

1. right click on model -> select -> component/body/face 2. no, except they are all inside one big component. 3. No, unfortunately, except for mirrored ones, as the mirror plane will appear as you select them. 4. by adjusting the move handle so as t…

I don't think there is a setting. You can use the anchor constraint to prevent one component from moving, though. I f you don't specify anything, the lower in hierarchy component will always move towards the higher (=closer to root) component. So, b…
