Poorvesh, like this? I also included a simple sample mechanism. Martin

Martin, Could you upload a screen shot of the Options menu in Spaceclaim, where the mechanics option is available.

It was the advanced option that I missed. Thank you very much!

Tijs, if I had your email address, I'd send you the file ... I have in fact done something very similar to what you did: I made a base part that hast two 'pins' that act as axis' and three bar or bone like objects with two holes each, and centered…

Hi Martin, I've installed SP 1 of SC engineer now, and I tried to make my 4 joint mechanism move, but so far I haven't been able to do so. I made 4 simple bars with two holes in each bar. Then I mated the holes with the center tool in the assembly…

It seems the functionality discussed in this thread is there now. At least I could just build and move a 4-joint construction. If we could only upload files here, I'd show you a sample ... There appear to be certain limitations, though. I could eas…

I agree that inverse kinematics would be very useful. In a related issue, I have had trouble exporting STL files of the components of an assembly--the exported files of the various components do not seem to share a common coordinate system--despite…

I had found this functionality missing a year back and had asked for enhancement. Tyler those commands of assembly, just helps to align & orient parts but currently its not possible to analyse the motion between 4 links of a mechanism. I am currentl…

word on the street is that this functionality will be in the next release. Look for a checkbox in options -> advanced to turn it on.
February 4
I think what you are trying to do can be done with the tools in the assembly toolbar (align, center, orient)

Tijs, I have had similar problems when making a model to simulate robot movement with a parallellogram. See my post "unable to constrain" in the General chapter of the other SpaceClaim forum. Hope they will make it work in the next version. It would…

I want to optimise the geometry of a foldable construction. Therefore I built the structure in Spaceclaim, with simple beams. I´ve mated the holes in my construction members with the center tool. So these mates would work as hinges. Now if I rotate…

Hi Martin, Thanks for your reply! Maybe it's a good idea to change the drawing format instead of trying to make this one work in SpaceClaim. Regards, Tijs

Tijs, we use a similar system. It would indeed be good to have advanced title block fill-in. For now, I worked around it by using the complete file name in a field that is long enough and labeled accordingly. Martin

I've created a drawing format for our company and I want to do the following: Our file names start with a unique number for each file on the server. Now I want this number to show up in the bottom right corner of my drawing format. I can use insert…

Hi Martin, Yes, me and my colleagues sometimes work in the same model. You have to be really careful, because SpaceClaim doesn't warn you when someone else has opened the same file. You could be modifying the same file simultaneously. Saving the fi…

Hi Tijs,

Absolutely! Actually, the best thing to do is to send it to support [at] spaceclaim [dot] com. They will log cases against your requests and let R&D know what the most common requests are. We'd love to know what you're looking for.

What are you doing with SpaceClaim?

Best,
-Blake

Hi Tijs,

You should share your document with Blake Courter, one of the founder of SpaceClaim. I'm sure he will be very thankful. I'm not a SpaceClaim developer, I'm working with Novedge and we are the major sponsor of this community.

Personally I would like also to have your document posted (copy & paste) here for everybody to discuss it.

Thanks for the reply. 1. I have played around a little bit with it. It's a very powerful tool for selecting elements with in solids, but doesn't work at all with components. It would be nice if that selection tool would find attributes of a compone…

Hi Dennis, 1. Did you notice the selection tab under the component tree? You might want to play around with that one and see what it can do for you. 4. You can move any direction you like, but you need to use the move tool. I know Cinema4D as quit…

As a drawing is always referring to a certain component, it will by default include everything within the component. It would be possible, though, to create one more drawing and hide those elements not needed for the purpose. If you go on with your…

Thanks for the reply. 1. This worked. Although I would like to see something similar to Rhino's selection filter. Where you can filter out certain elements before you draw a selection box. For instance if I wanted to just select components it would…

I was thinking of something similar to Microstation's clip volume. Although maybe I am thinking about wrong. If you have a large complex assembly and want to show a detail of how 2 parts fit together without showing all the other parts around it. Ho…

Hmmm... I could not find any anomalities in SC 2010 so far. I think the hierarchy driven alignment preferences have always been ab bit ugly. I'd prefer if the alignment direction would be defined by the sequence of selection. The object selected fir…

In former versions I did not have any problems with it. But with V.2010 it is unpredictable. I agree with you Martin that the anchor constraint wil work but it is extra mouseclicks and I do not believe this is the way it is supposed to be.

These are the choices you have, no depth. Never heard of that one, though. Martin

1. right click on model -> select -> component/body/face 2. no, except they are all inside one big component. 3. No, unfortunately, except for mirrored ones, as the mirror plane will appear as you select them. 4. by adjusting the move handle so as t…

I don't think there is a setting. You can use the anchor constraint to prevent one component from moving, though. I f you don't specify anything, the lower in hierarchy component will always move towards the higher (=closer to root) component. So, b…
